Comment-to-DM automation sends a private message to anyone who comments a keyword on your post, and can ask them for an email address that lands in your leads list. Bolt Claw runs it on Instagram and Facebook, on every plan, Free included.

An automation is a rule on one connected account: which comments it answers, what it says in public, and what it sends in private.
Connect Instagram and Facebook from the dashboard. New comments reach Bolt Claw through the network's own notifications, so a rule sees each one as it arrives.
Pick one keyword or several, and whether a comment must contain one or match it exactly. Leave the keywords empty to answer every comment, the usual giveaway. Then choose one post, several, or all of them.
Write the DM and the link it carries. Add a public reply too if you want the comment answered on the post: write several and each comment gets one of them, or let Claude write it.
Have the DM ask for an email address or a phone number. The first message carries your question and holds the link back; when they answer, they get the link and you get the lead.
Each automation counts what it did: comments matched, DMs sent and leads captured. Pause it from the dashboard whenever you like.
Networks set strict rules on private replies. They are written into the engine, so an automation cannot break them on your behalf.
Each run is written to the database before anything is sent, and a unique constraint allows one per comment. A notification delivered twice cannot message anybody twice.
A private reply goes out only within the time the network allows after a comment, and a follow-up only ever answers a message the person has just sent.
Your own comments and messages never set anything off, and one person can trigger the same automation once a day at most.
Email addresses and phone numbers people chose to give land in your leads list, with the automation that collected them. Export them as a CSV for your email tool or CRM, or have a webhook tell your own system about each new one.
On Threads, Bluesky, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube, which have no private reply to a comment, an automation can still answer every matching comment in public.
A rule can start from a direct message instead: somebody writes your keyword on Instagram, Facebook or Bluesky, and the automation answers in the same conversation.
Automations, the DMs they send and the leads they collect are on Free. Plans change how many, never whether. The replies that need a person land in your social inbox.

A private DM in answer to a comment works on Instagram and Facebook, the networks whose APIs allow a private reply to a comment. On Threads, Bluesky, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube an automation can answer matching comments in public instead. X and Pinterest are connected for publishing only, so no automation runs there.
Not from one comment. The run is recorded before the message is sent, and the database allows one run per comment, so a notification the network repeats or delivers late sends nothing. The same person commenting again within a day does not set the same automation off a second time either.
A lead is a contact detail somebody chose to give. When the automation asks for an email address or a phone number, the answer is saved as a lead and the link follows it. When it asks for nothing, the DM simply carries your link, and the automation still counts every DM it sent.
Claude can write the public reply to each comment, using your plan's AI credits; if none are left, one of the replies you wrote goes out instead. The DM is always the message you wrote. Free includes 3,000 AI credits a day.
Yes. Free includes 1,000 automations, 1,000 automated DMs a month and 100 leads a month. A DM the network refuses is given back to your allowance.
Yes. Automations and leads are in the REST API, so your own systems can create, change and pause them, and an assistant connected through the MCP server can do the same with your permissions. It asks you before it switches an automation on or deletes one.
Set up your first automation on the free plan. Sign up with Google or an email address, and pay nothing until you choose a plan.
