Your name, a line for your bio or a word to stress. Letters and digits change; punctuation and emoji stay.
Each row shows your text in one of 18 Unicode styles. Some styles have no digits, so numbers stay plain.
Copy the row and paste it into Instagram, then check it on the phone you post from before you save.
Why styled text pastes where no font can be chosen.
Instagram does not let you pick a font for your bio or captions. These styles work anyway because they are not fonts at all: they are separate characters in Unicode, the standard every phone uses for text. Most come from a block made for mathematics, which has its own bold, italic, script and double-struck alphabets.
Because they are characters, they paste anywhere text goes, and the phone that shows them draws them with whatever font it has. That is also why the same line can look slightly different on an iPhone, an Android phone and a laptop.
The places styled text helps, and the places it gets in the way.
How people who listen to their screen hear styled text.
Screen readers read text aloud for people who cannot see it. Faced with these characters, a screen reader may spell a word out letter by letter, announce each character by its technical name, or skip it. A bio written entirely in a script style can come out as noise.
The rule that keeps it readable: keep the words that matter in plain text (your name, what you do, any call to action) and use a style for one or two words of emphasis, never for whole sentences.
What people ask before they use it, answered plainly.
Not in a bio or a caption: Instagram shows all of that text in its own font. What you can do is paste Unicode characters that look styled, which is what this generator makes. Stories and Reels have text styles of their own inside the app.
Yes, in your bio, captions, comments and display name. Not in your username, which allows only letters, numbers, full stops and underscores.
The phone or computer reading your text has no font that includes those characters. Bold, italic and script are widely supported; circled, squared and small capital letters are missing from some older devices.
They can be. Screen readers may spell them out letter by letter, read them by their technical names, or skip them. Keep your name, what you do and any call to action in plain text, and style a word or two for emphasis.
Often, yes. Most of these characters take two units in the way apps store text, so a counter may count each styled letter as two, and you reach a limit such as the 150-character bio sooner.
No. The styles are made in your browser as you type, and nothing is sent anywhere or kept.
Your bio has room for a few lines. A Bolt Claw link-in-bio page has room for every link you share, set in your own colours and typeface.
